ŠKODA doubles up on What Car? silverware as Fabia and Superb take Used Car of the Year titles
Proving once again that ŠKODA offers unbeatable value for both new and used car buyers, the Fabia and Superb have been named as the best in the business at the annual What Car? Used Car of the Year awards. The brand also scooped a coveted price point win in the £14,000 category for the Octavia.
In judging the 2020 What Car? Used Car awards, the panel reviewed no fewer than 909 contenders across 18 different categories. Each winner was chosen by the judging panel in each of three age groups, covering models from one to 10 years old. At the end of that process the What Car? team named an overall category winner.
Repeating its overall win from last year, the Fabia once again proved best in class in the small car category. Commenting on the Fabia’s back-to-back wins, the What Car? judges said: “Our top gong goes to the car that beats all its competitors for value: the ŠKODA Fabia. The Fabia won this award last year, but on that occasion it emerged from the sub-£10,000 category; this time it beat all-comers for just £6,000, and you're still getting the exact same 1.0 TSI 95 SE model.”
At the other end of the ŠKODA size scale, the Superb flexed its muscles to take the Executive Car title – comfortably seeing off the competition. The judging panel praised the Superb’s remarkable all-round ability, commenting: “If you’re after both class and space, take a look at the ŠKODA Superb. It’s good to drive, comfortable and absolutely huge inside. It’s also wonderful value for money."
In addition to securing two outright title wins, ŠKODA also picked up a Price Point win in the Family Car category. For buyers with a budget of up to £14,000, the What Car? judges found that the Octavia delivered unbeatable value for money.
