Small wonders: Citigo and Fabia take the spoils at the What Car? Used Car Awards 2019
Good things come in small packages, and according to the experts at What Car?, there are no finer compact used car options than the ŠKODA Citigo and Fabia. Both have been awarded top honours at the What Car? Used Car Awards 2019 - seeing off tough competition in the process.
As with its New Car Awards, What Car? now uses price points as a framework for its judging process rather than age brackets. This means buyers with a fixed budget can discover the best car they can get for their money in various different size categories. The panel only took into account cars under five years old that are readily available on the used car market. Judges looked for value for money, reliability and ownership costs before making their final decisions.
First to grab the What Car? silverware was the Citigo - which has been an integral part of the ŠKODA range since 2012 and no stranger to collecting industry awards. It was named Used City Car of the Year, and was praised for its build quality and broad range. Commenting on the baby ŠKODA’s award, Alex Robbins, What Car? Used Cars Editor said: “The Citigo has long been a What Car? favourite, and indeed it was a contender for our Used City Car award last year. Early examples now look like terrific options for buyers on a budget, while later models and special edition versions are available with smart looks and toys for used car buyers who are able to spend a little more. And there are plenty of Citigos around, which makes it easy to find a tidy example.”
Completing a compact car lock-out for ŠKODA, the Fabia was also named Used Small Car of the Year.
